Hitachi Metals has developed a ceramic adsorption filter (CAF) as a pre-treatment for seawater reverse osmosis (RO) systems. A study by Hitachi Metals and Nanyang Environment & Water Research Institute (NEWRI) shows a reduction in fouling on the RO membranes when the CAF is used as a pre-treatment.
